Practical informationWhereThe Tropical MSP summer school will take place at the "Institut Universitaire Européen de la Mer", a multi-disciplinary research institute devoted to the ocean and the coastal environment. It is located in Plouzané, just at the outskirts of Brest, France. It is around 30min away from Brest city centre by taking the tramway and bus. The closest bust station to the venue is De Rochon. Welcome to the IUEM ! A campus on marine sciences, with sea view How to get to BrestBy train, Brest is about 3,5 hours away from Paris (Montparnasse train station). Fore more information, see the SNCF railway company website. The city centre is at a walking distance from the train station. By plane, many airlines (Hop!, Air France, Easyjet, Vueling, etc.) provide flights from Paris and several other European cities to Brest airport (BES). There are regular shuttles bus connecting the Airport with the tramway going to Brest city centre. It costs about 1.50 € per ride (including the tramway leg, the ticket is valid for 1 hour). Accomodation during the eventThere are many hotels in Brest. You can find a list of accomodations on the website of the tourist office. Classical booking websites can also be useful (Airbnb, Booking.com, etc.). We recommend you to arrive in Brest on Sunday Sept. 2nd and to leave on Friday 7th from 5pm onwards - except if you want to spend more time in the region ! About Brest and the surroundingsThis port city stands on the banks of the beautiful bay of Brest and is home to one of Europe’s most impressive aquariums, Océanopolis. Brest is surrounded by a rich and diverse countryside and a great spot for practicing nautical activities (sailing, kiting, snorkling, surfing, etc ...).
